AITAH - responding to a dog rushing mine
There is an owner at a local park that brings their dog around and it seems pretty hit or miss. The first time it met my dog it got aggressive over a ball which I chalked up as normal and split them up nonchalantly, removing the ball.
I don’t let it play with my dog anymore but the next few times I see the owner/dog, the owner is usually chasing after the dog because it is chasing after someone else’s, seemingly aggressively. Sometimes it looks normal and is minding its own business around other dogs, so I don’t know what triggers their dog or why they keep bringing it around to roll the dice.
Most recently, we were at the same park and this dog starts charging mine. Probably a 30ft distance or so while we were minding our own business. Owner is chasing it, yelling to me “it’s friendly!” Even though that’s highly questionable, especially since it’s charging mine with a snarl and what sounds like an aggressive bark.
I timed its approach and redirected it with a foot to its chest. Owner left pretty quickly after that. Should I feel like this is an appropriate way to respond if that happens again in the future or AITAH?
