[TX] Fired for Hospitalization

Fired for hospitalization

Is this legal? My husband faithfully worked for Amazon the past 2 years but in October of last year he got sick and was in the ICU. He has a neurological disease that prevents him from driving right now and the owner said that having my husband on the roster was costing her company too much. Then on a form I got back today, it says he was terminated for " failure to return to work after calling in sick" THE MAN WAS LITTERALLY PARALYZED and in so much pain. His job was notified of everything, they have doctors notes, his entire 7 week hospital stay information, discharge papers, medications, his diagnosis. They knew about the situation, and it's severity from day 1. They apparently don't offer short or long term disability so I asked about their policy on medical leave and hr completely disregard the question. This doesn't sit right with me. Is this normal? I'm a baby adult.

Edit:There are more than 15 employees, they used to offer " light duty" where you come and work at the loading dock and clean and get gas for the vans. Originally, they said my husband could do that until he recovered enough to drive then they apparently got rid of that. This was offered to individuals without disabilities as a way to get extra hours. Then there was a company wide raise but my husband didn't get his because he was not working (hospitalized), and his boss said the raises were at her discretion. They did not offer any reasonable accommodations for my husband, even to moving him from driving to dispatch, which is something he can do. How does this not violate their ADA. My husband work performances was great before he became disabled. He was their top driver.
