Birmingham is Not Pulling Its Weight

For better or for worse, for as far back as I can remember, the State of Alabama has produced some of the best, most meme-able viral videos the world has ever seen.

Mobile: It all started SEVENTEEN years ago with a Leprechaun.

Montgomery: Then there was the fame of a certain Flea Market that's just like, just like....a Mini-Mall.

Huntsville: And who doesn't love the passion and stage presence of one Antoine Dodson.

Montgomery: And to present day, the Boat Brawl in our State's capital has captivated the world, while the memes and tik toks flow like wine. #hatsignal #ScubaGoodingJr

All the major metros are represented, but what has Birmingham ever done? What video of OURS will people be quoting from in twenty years?

Forget Fortune 500 Headquarters, pro sports teams, Beluga Whales and a "metro government." For the future of Birmingham, we need to go viral. But in a fun way, right?

ETA: All y'all talking about Carlee, point me to the viral VIDEO, the meme-able quotes, the funny, freaky characters... Nah. Carlee's story is just weird and sad. Nobody is going to be talking about Carlee in six months, much less seventeen years. Weak sauce and off-topic.
