Does black clover’s reluctance to kill of characters hold it back?

I’m sorry but I just caught up on the manga on the spade kingdom ark and the plot twist in the final chapter is amazing, but I can’t get over the fact that these guys faced off against three devils that were built up to be so powerful you would think that half the cast wouldn’t make it out alive. But instead every single person makes it out alive, even flipping Sekke out of all people survived.

It just shows that there has really been no consequences for the main cast and that the ridiculous plot armor they have will prevent any foe from looking scary or worrisome, which really disappoints me tbh, because I really like black clover but this holds it back from being among the best in shonen in my opinion.
