Drinking Alcohol?

Hi! Recently, I've been looking into Buddhism recently and was wondering if it is entirely disallowed to consume alcohol or if it is just not allowed to be consumed to a point of being drunk?

I've just assumed it wasn't allowed at all, but I've heard a few different perspectives on the matter and would appreciate any advice.
