Do unbaptized babies go to Hell?
I saw a group of orthodox talking about this but I'd like to hear catholic opinion on that, as I read some people saying they do and others saying theu don't. I don't know how true it is but I've read some news saying Pope Francis abolished limbo, so if there is limbo, does that means unbaptized babies actually burn in Hell? Since the soul was thought to be stained by this sin, without baptism, babies could not be admitted to Heaven and could be condemned to Hell.
I know the Church emphasizes God's mercy and the possibility of salvation for all people, including infants, and thpe Vatican has clarified that it trusts in God's grace and mercy and that unbaptized infants are entrusted to God's care, but this doesn't really answer the question. The Church’s role is to guide the faithful in understanding God's will based on the belief that the Church has been entrusted with the responsibility to preserve and interpret divine revelation. For years the Church developed doctrines that reflect an attempt to understand God's Will, offer clarity and comfort to its followers, and be faithful to its interpretation of Scripture and Tradition. While you could be said that the Church trusts God, the Church also has a responsibility to provide as much guidance as possible to help people navigate their faith.
