Storm protocol?

Hi! My family & I visited the park today and unfortunately they closed the rides around 5:40ish due to thunder/lightening 10m from the park, and then from 5 miles.. and then it was literally in the park per the message over the speaker system. Which is totally understandable! My question is, is it typical for the restaurants in the park to lock their doors while guests sit outside under an awning, in metal chairs??

From where we were I couldn’t see if other restaurants or shops were allowing people in, but the automated message over the speaker system literally said to seek shelter in the shops or restaurants? I even found on the website where it says under weather guidelines that they welcome you shops or restaurants. Eventually after probably 15 minutes of the storm and visible lightening in the park, and screaming scared kids, they allowed us in but said they needed us to all( maybe 10 families) stand against one wall because they had already cleaned the restaurant. The park wasn’t closed yet. It was really off putting but I haven’t been here in 13 years so I just wasn’t sure if this was the usual lol. Other than that we had a blast!
