Quick question

I was a child when this was originally aired and cellphones were still a new thing. In one of the episodes Lorelei leaves Rory a message saying to call her at Jason’s. Later Lorelei’s phone rings and she tells Jason she told Rory to call her there.

Am I dumb? Is this a more confusing way to say to call her on her cellphone? Or was there a different way Rory would have had to call her? Did she mean to call her on Jason’s home phone?
