Beginner looking for help to level a nomad

As the title says, I'm looking into leveling a nomad, but I didn't get any good feeling, I tried to use eye of RA, but the proc rate seemed pretty garbage early on.

Plus the class felt pretty squishy.

How would you suggest I go about it ?
