What is this sub about?

Just a genuine questions to those who are a part of this community.

The only posts that get any real interactions are ragebaits or pictures of books that are already very popular. People are posting here asking for reviews on a book they already bought (which can be easily found on goodreads or with a simple google search) but when when people actually post reviews, no one reads/interacts with those except a few. Also, it is not like the posts soliciting reviews are getting real reviews beyond "good/masterpiece" and other variations. So like, what is this sub about?

This is not about upvotes or downvotes but about having an actual conversation around books which rarely happens and when it does happen, the responses are just jokes or memes and several times in bad faith with a only few serious responses. While jokes and memes are fun, the bad faith arguments end being antithetical to the "intellectual" vibe that they are trying to portray.

At this point this sub resembles a circlejerk. I have seen people blame the Mods but how much can one mod really do?
