I think Gen Zs are turning into millennials (written by a Gen Zer)
I think our humor is changing into more millennial style because we’re just getting older. When we were younger, we liked edgy jokes—stuff that was kind of controversial or taboo. It felt cool, like we were in on some secret and way more mature than we actually were. But now that we’re older, that kind of humor doesn’t really work anymore. Now people are all about funny cat memes and weird phrases like “car” becoming the new “doggo.” And honestly, I get it. It’s not about being controversial anymore, it’s just about laughing at the little things. Sometimes, it’s nice to just keep things simple and fun, without overthinking it.
It’s also kind of crazy how Gen Z is starting to shift into the same kind of humor we had when we were their age. They used to love the wild, edgy stuff, but now it feels like they’re getting desensitized to all the intense jokes and memes. After everything that’s been going on in the world, they’re starting to find the funny in simpler things, just like we did. It’s like they’re realizing that the silliest, most random things can be just as funny, if not more. So now it’s like everyone’s just looking for a little break from all the chaos, and laughing at the goofy stuff is the best way to do it.
