Ok, I have to make a post defending Poppy

I noticed a lot, but a LOT of demonizing Poppy

We have a lot to say, so let's go.

She basically wanted to burn/blow up the factory, how this could happen is in the second image

So I'll tell you my interpretation of this plan: Poppy wanted us to plant the bombs in the factory, in specific and sensitive parts to cause damage, so the plan was for the safe Heaven/Doey to detonate these bombs, while Poppy, Kissy and Player fled the factory along with the orphans

Note there is NOTHING about saving the safe Heaven or sheltering it, I saw a lot of people confusing this, but basically after we saved the orphans in the labora then Safe Heaven would appear and literally explode to destroy the factory and kill the prototype, that was the plan

The plan was always to make Safe Heaven a sacrifice, they were destined to die, Doey knew it and the other villagers knew it too, the whole Doey thing isn't about the plan killing would kill the safe Heaven or not, but if it's worth sacrificing all of them to kill the prototype, Doey himself should be okay with it, since he was going to die along with it (or he planned to try to save some of the safe heaven and only he sacrifice himself)

But Safe Heaven was already doomed to destruction with this plan, Poppy is upset, because the bomb not only doesn't destroy the factory and the prototype like she did Only by destroying the safe Heaven, which is not something Poppy wants), as the bomb detonated before the intended time.

So the plan was to sacrifice everyone from Safe Heaven, but why are they okay with it? First of all it's not like they had much hope of surviving in the first place. They don't have the body needed to escape, and besides, standing still like this is just waiting slowly until the prototype kills them or they starve to death, whichever comes first. So, second, if they could at least kill the prototype they could give their lives a purpose and get revenge for all the pain the prototype had caused them and their friends.

(I reread Poppy's lines about her plan and it is implied that they know of the plan, as she says that they will be the ones to blow up the factory when they leave,)

Doey obviously knew about the plan too, but he didn't want to sacrifice/give up everyone for this plan, even if it ended the prototype, because Safe Heaven is family, he's not that mad, because he was going to die together and would not suffer the pain of losing his family, but it turns out that only the safe Heaven was destroyed and Doey is left alive, which makes him lose control

But it was always certain that safe Heaven would notice, continuing Poppy clearly values the lives of orphans more than toys in this plane? Why? I know that sounds bad (despite practically everyone's consent to this crazy plan), but why would Poppy do that?

We saw this in the last tape, Poppy understands that the prototype was right in the matter that there would be no way for them to escape, they would have to stay in the factory. Because they are literally living experiments, living toys, if they escaped, Either they were going to be killed or they were going to be captured and taken to a different laboratory, then suffer the same pains as in the past, Besides them not even knowing that they are human beings, as far as outsiders know, They are all animals, if you see what guard Cole thinks, he also thought they were animals, before he found out they were p Further diminishing any empathy they might have, so there's basically no life for the experiments outside the factory. They would have to hide anyway, I believe everyone in Safe Heaven and even Doey knew that.

Now the orphans are different, they are human, if Poppy escaped with them, they wouldn't need to hide, they wouldn't be killed on sight or taken to a laboratory, and they could be taken to an orphanage, where a caring family could take them in and adopt them, they had hope outside the factory

Now Poppy is not innocent with this plan, but it doesn't mean she is wrong or didn't think of it, there is no other solution she could think of either, everything I said is not a lie either,There is not much that can be done to save Safe Heaven

Now another thing is about: "she knew about the joy time!" Basically a manipulation by Sawyer, she did in fact know about the joy time, the prototype told her, Sawyer didn't lie about that, but he omitted that Poppy didn't know the purpose of the plan, the last tape she says she thought they were just going to run away, she didn't expect that the real plan was to carry out a genocide of all the employees, she agrees with the prototype that there was no way they could escape on second thought, even though she hates that he is right about this, she still feels sick about this plan

So no, Poppy did not agree with widespread genocide.

Now the end, where a lot of hate against Poppy comes from, let's go step by step

First she blames you for what happened to Doey, because even though the plan was to kill everyone in the Heaven safe, the bomb wasn't supposed to explode like that or we killed Doey like that, The plan was for Safe Heaven himself to sacrifice himself, plus the bombs exploded earlier at the wrong time and place (that's why she questions whether we even planted the bombs), She doesn't have the context, so she gets mad at us for killing Doey for seemingly nothing, that's obvious to understand.but for some reason people miss this, when it should be obvious that Poppy is mad because she doesn't have the context

The second thing that makes Poppy very angry is her cowardly escape, oh how many people I saw demonizing her for this, but anyway

Let's get into Poppy's skin first: she is possibly a child, as much as she tries to pretend to be more mature than she is, she continues to be despite the the toys do not actually age within the experiment, it is implied that the experiments are to achieve immortality, Stella's first tape hints at this, the mindset of many experiments hints at this, Poppy's behavior, after coming out of the box is to act like a child and play a little with the player, Poppy is a child mentally, despite how many years she has lived

Second thing is Ollie's betrayal, Prototype hit exactly where it hurt the most, in all 10 years, Prototype lived lying, deceiving her, she never had an advantage, everything went according to his plans., it was all a lie, she was doomed to failure from the start

If you look at it, Polly was venting her frustrations to Ollie, we see that on their tape, of course it could be the real Ollie, but Polly herself doesn't know that, Prototype is vague as to how long Ollie still existed, the only friend she could talk to and constantly vent to possibly never existed, he will use everything she told him against her, he knows all her weaknesses, fears and traumas, her best friend is her most hated enemy

Third: then after having everything destroyed, the prototype uses her trauma against her, says he's going to arrest her again, not only that but he's going to do worse this time, we don't know what it is, But if we were to watch the tape, Poppy talks about how the scientists opened and closed it, how much it hurt her, you can imagine the pain of being stuck in one place, unable to move, speak or talk Completely alone and abandoned, possibly starving in the meantime, prototype would do worse than that

Prototype used the worst trauma, the ptsd against her, she had a panic attack and fear, she just wasn't thinking clearly at that moment, you can villainize her for that but I doubt most people's reaction would be any different, especially after everything the prototype specifically did to her.

She may be wrong as she abandoned us, the Prototype himself mocks this, but she is still a child traumatized by everything that happened to her, she was in a panic and didn't think well about what to do.

We see that she cares, because at the beginning of the chapter, she literally goes back alone to save Kissy, when the enemy that was attacking Kissy was possibly a bigger Body and even the Prototype, she had the courage to go back, take care of Kissy's injuries, while she was worried about what happened to Kissy, she cared and she risked herself to save Kissy

But in the end, it's a lot to take in, it's betrayal from the person she trusted the most and the Prototype himself promising to do worse to her so "she would understand", causing greater pain, which makes her run away from me.fear, she tries to pretend to be strong, but the prototype knows the truth, her weaknesses, she literally faced betrayal from an enemy who knows what she fears

And to tell the truth, it's quite obvious that Poppy herself, despite her fears, when she calms down, she will still come back to help us and help Kissy, we see at the beginning of chapter 4 that she is like that. She will not abandon us

Obviously she is not a perfect angel of morality, she has many questionable decisions, she is more morally gray, but she is clearly trying to do the right and good, Despite all the problems and difficulties, I'm not saying she's perfect, but she's not an irredeemable monster either. In the end, the prototype is to blame for everything going wrong.

The prototype that made all the toys' lives hell with his government, the prototype that hunted them down and killed them, the prototype that lied to Poppy about being friends with her.The prototype who used Poppy's plan against her, the prototype who used Poppy's fears and traumas against her.

If you think about it, a lot of Poppy's information could have come from "Ollie", Ollie who could have given Poppy the idea for the plan.

Hell, the Prototype himself is partially the cause of her trauma, as he was the one who trapped Poppy.

I'm writing this so you can understand Poppy, her side of the story, she's not a villain or evil, I've seen people waiting for her to die and I think that's an exaggeration lol.

I think that's it, I hope you enjoyed reading this, it requires a lot of thought, anyway, what do you think?
