Is this Geiger counter any good?

My mom got it for me last Christmas so I could measure the radiation emitted by my radioactive minerals. I'm not that experienced in this field and just wanted to ask more experienced people about this counter, I also want to find Hot particles ( small particles of the radioactive fuel from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant ) mainly because I live in Poland so i thought it probably won't be too hard.
