Fast-tracked surgery this coming Thursday w/ diagnosis just a week ago. Starting to feel like I didn't ask enough questions.
Just thought to see if this sub exists, and it does. Now feeling... like I am in over my head.
Last March or so, I started getting some soreness from lifting. Can't recall when it happened, and it was nothing likely super obvious at a specific moment. I continued lifting and swimming since, but anything other than breast stroke annoyed the shoulder. For lifting, I mainly notice when doing bench, pushups (almost impossible, but bench I can do 3-4 sets with 10-15 reps at around 150. I am 6'2", 200lps, almost 45, and consider myself to be in reasonably good shape. I exercise almost daily and lift 5x/week. Spouse and I just have a cat, so no kiddos to worry about wrangling. Pain is non-existent unless lifting or swimming.
Summary of my diagnosis as I understand it: 25ish% bursal surface tear over the top of the rotator cuff, along with a bone spur and some labrum debridement. This is my right/dominant arm (because of course it is).
(1) Summary from doc notes: Moderate supraspinatus tendinopathy or strain with partial bursal surface tear. (2) Moderate subscapularis and mild infraspinatus tendinopathy or strain without tear. (3) Mild to moderate subacromial, subdeltoid bursitis. (4) Mild glenohumeral arthropathy. Labral degeneration and likely superior degenerative tearing. (5) Unremarkable long head biceps tendon. (6) Mild acromioclavicular arthropathy with osteophyte formation.
Had an xray, MRI, and then diagnosis about a week ago after finally deciding to get this checked out. I am a WFH desk jockey in the USA and didn't want to wait now that a new administration is in the house and things are already getting hectic. I have surgery this coming Thursday, then post op and PT #1 next Friday, with PT continuing 2x/week for about 6 weeks after that, and then maybe cutting to 1x/week, depending.
Plan is to be working the following Monday, but boss and colleagues are aware I might be next to useless for a couple of weeks, aside from a few emails here and there. Stupidly, never directly asked if sitting and/or standing at my desk will be a stupid expectations for a few weeks. Having PT start so soon and all seems positive, and the doc generally seemed positive about how it is only a partial tear.
Anyone with feedback on what I can expect? I am looking through this thread, but feeling a bit overwhelmed, which is partly why I just decided to barrel through instead of putting it off.
