Trst je naš

Italian guy here and history nerd, recently got interested in the history of Istria, Venezia Giulia and Friuli.

I've already heard people say "trst je naš, Gorica pa še bo" multiple times, but in a seemingly joking way. Soo, does slovenian irredentism still exist? And is it popular? Or is it just a silly meme?
