Family Dog of 10 years Died

I’m heartbroken for my husband right now and equally devastated from the death of our family dog. For background, my husband and the mother split the same year my stepdaughter was born. The mom moved to the other side of the country about a month after her birth and it’s been a pretty tumultuous and next to none coparenting situation since. My husband got the dog as a companion after they left and he really helped my husband through the long and hard custody case. Sd comes back for about 40-50 days a year. I came into the picture 6 years ago and work from home so I became deeply bonded with our dog too. We sadly had to euthanize him yesterday due to cancer. The worst part is we have been blocked for the thousandth time by the mom and mom took sd cell phone, we pay for, away yet again. My husband is taking this really hard losing his buddy and not even being able to get that little bit of comfort. First time I’ve ever seen him break down like this.
