What happened to this sub’s reception to Sophie’s writing?

Early in her run, I remember the reception to her run was more divided on this sub. But, now it seems like fans are in favor of her? If you even mention her name unfavorably, your post gets downvoted.

What happened?

I've been a long time IDW reader, but I'm not caught up to date on the latter half of Sophie's run. So, maybe it got better? I tried sticking with the comic past #100, and quit around #120 (I think). But, I couldn't keep going...

I'm not saying her writing was bad. I infact used to follow her on Deviantart where she made TMNT fan comics before she even worked on the comic. Her run did have its audience (especially on Tumblr, for obvious reasons), it just wasn't a TMNT book that faithfully continued off what was set in stone.

I can go on and on about how her writing felt like fanfiction to me, how characters would go 0 to 100, how we keep following these characters most don't care for, the romance, the lack of adventure or action, the amount of fluff the story had, odd character writing, the lack of agency, etc.

It in no way felt like I was reading the same comic, felt like it was written for an entirely different demographic. I was confused. People back then told me in defense, "it's the calm before the storm and you're just an action junky". I'm not an action junky and this storytelling went on for more than a year.

I have never been so happy in my life for a comic to get a different writer than when Jason Aaron was announced to pick it up. I've been enjoying the comic greatly so far, with my only compliant is that I hope it gets a singular artist. I'm finally excited to see what happens the next issue. It feels different, but it feels like a TMNT book again.

Sophie is the best artist they’ve had though!
