Called disgusting in high school

I didn’t have a great time in high school. I so badly wanted to be liked. I had a friend that I confided in that I liked a boy in 6th period. One day, said friend decided to humiliate me and intentionally blurt to that boy that I “wanted him” as the boy was walking by on the way to class.

He immediately said I was disgusting 3-4 times.

I had to go sit in the same class with him literally 2 minutes later.

The agony I felt in that walk to class hasn’t exactly been matched in years.

It’s two decades later and I still feel like I’m there. It’s stunted my self esteem for sure.

The words can never hurt me thing was a lie.
