My doctor is close to diagnosing me with vestibular migraines… what is life like with them?

So I’ve been having issues with migraines with dizziness for a few years now. Initially my doctor thought they were migraines with aura, but now they’re leaning towards vestibular migraines. I had a severe episode of vertigo that ended with me in the ER last month. It was almost 12 hours of drunk spins, and then finally I just started puking every time I moved.

I had to start weaning off of Effexor and switch BCs because in increased frequency of dizzy spells aligned with both meds. I’m not off the Effexor and waiting for an MRI. So far the dizzy spells haven’t stopped. I’m anticipating a vestibular migraine diagnosis based off what my doctor said at our last appointment.

What is every day life like trying to manage this? I’m lucky enough right now that I’m not working full time, and focusing on switching careers. That being said, I’ve already had to cancel some of my volunteer days because I’ve had entire days consumed by dizziness and mild nausea. I’m honestly a bit scared to end up with another episode that sends me to the ER. My doctor didn’t really explain to me what treatment would look like or how managing them would entail, but I’m worried I’ll have a hard time returning to work with how things are going.

If anyone is able to give some insight that would be great
