What failed tech did you get suckered into buying?
Yes, I bought a DivX player, and if you don't know what that was, basically it was a DVD player that also played special DivX discs. You'd buy a DivX movie for 5 bucks, and with that, you could watch it up to 48 hours after your initial viewing. After that, you could pay more for another 48 hours. Shockingly, this was a MASSIVE failure, and is often cited as one of the reasons Circuit City went under. A year in, the service was completely discontinued, and you couldn't even play the discs you bought for their initial 48 hours. Thankfully, it was still a decent DVD player, but yeah, this was probably my biggest tech blunder. Do you have any similar stories?
