Life as a Chartered Accountant in Zimbabwe CA(Z)

Initially, I perceived being a Chartered Accountant (CA) in Zimbabwe as a lucrative career. However, the reality is starkly different. The substantial fees required to obtain qualifications vastly outweigh the starting salaries offered, which are around USD 1,000 per month. This disparity is alarming.

While some fortunate individuals receive company sponsorships to cover fees, many of us self-fund or rely on family support. The return on investment seems distant. Consequently, numerous peers seek better opportunities in countries like the UK. Although life may improve, the net salary of £3,000 often translates to meager savings of £500 per month. It's a harsh awakening to realize our expectations were misplaced.
