How sturdy are (metal)squares really?

Hi, I do a couple sports that really aren't gentle for watches, like downhill mountainbiking, hiking, skateboarding.. My first G's bezel broke after 12 years of constant wearing, the wristband tore after 10years. My second watch is a mudman that I'm wearing constantly for over 10 years now and everything is good so far besides little chips in the metal ring and glass.

I'm now very interested in a metal square. Are there any real experiences that those can't handle wet sand, rain, crashes on boulders and rocks, mud and so on? I know technically the mudman is engineered for exactly this, but did anyone ever had a square that actually had problems with that life?
