Help a foreigner brainstorm babynames

In particular, I am interested in you weighing in on what is 'over the top' or a bit cringe re parents trying too hard.

Context

We just moved to a very academic town in the US, we are both scientists, we are surrounded by academic types and a bit of finance and tech. We are originally from Germany and Israel. Our own names are not super common, our kids would probably have a hyphenated last name that is an unusual combination. I am quite drawn to 'rare' names, which I think is a big risk that can backfire. I do think however that based on our environment and background we can get a way with a little bit of unusual naming without it seeming totally terrible and pretentious. I also would really like the names to reflect the family heritage, because to my sensibilities america assimilates its population very quickly so it would be nice to hold on to something.

Another of the many desiderata is that the name would work well internationally and not be too local in space or time.

Pitfalls that worry me

Imagine you go to one of the better schools in Berlin, the kids there will have pretty insane names. One cluster is things like Ambrosius and Hiskeline, the other cluster is super old school like Wilhelm, Heinrich (this is common in the UK to just forever give the same 7 boys names, but in Germany to give your child a WW1 name basically screams that you think of yourself as aristocracy).

We lived in the UK for a long time and the posh people have their own odd patterns, ie giving the child 3 names but calling it by the second of those names.

In the US this pitfall of upper class people naming their children in a way I personally find in bad taste presents very differently from Europe (Apple, North, Paris, London). I suppose going Junior and then The Third is a waspy posh thing to do here.

Some Ideas

Scientist names: Ada, Blaise. --> I think these are on very firm ground, not too niche, people will know the origin without it being too narrowly attributed to only one person. Maybe Hedy can go on this list too.

Great/Grandparents names: Gerda, Elsbeth, Yenna. Rosa, Pesia, Manfred, Norbert, Meir --> The female ones I think work quite well in English but would be considered very oldfashioned where they are from, Ithe boys names are very difficult for the modern palate (including me)

Names I truly love: Xanthippe (great short as Xanthi), Andromache, Athena, Hypatia --> I don't think we can get away with those having 0 connection to their ancient origins

Old Jewish/Hebrew names: Golda, Zelda, Rosa, Yenna, Levi, Elizier, Akiva --> potentially carry too much baggage re making people think you are orthodox

Old German names: Adelheid, Adelind, Elvira, Aloisia, Emmeline, Maralda (found not good boys names, I am generally very short on boys names)

Other names I like that do not cluster with the ones above that much: Yael, Deidre, Cecilia, Moira, Mildred, Talea, Imogen, Naomi, Mabel, Guinevere --> Some Celtic, some that sound more old fashioned american, some modern hebrew, again entirely missing boys names here

I would love to hear your ideas or feedback on what you find is over the top and what you think would work well here in the new world.

Edit: thank you all for your contributions this is a very enjoyable read for me
