can someone explain the pakistan mbbs timeline to me?

wasn’t sure where to post this, but basically i’m going into mbbs soon and i don’t understand how it works compared to the timeline that i know of.

i’m more used to the western timeline of (uni) / med school / residency / specialization. in pak i know it’s 5 yrs of med skl, then 1 year of house job? to help me understand, i tried to align this with what other countries require since i don’t want to work in pakistan.

does house job count as residency? and if so, i’m sure i saw somewhere that you are supposed to have at least 3 years of house job if you even want to be considered by other countries — in which case i suppose it is residency. how does house job in pakistan even work, is it another re-application process that can get accepted or rejected? are you supposed to choose your specialty to focus on in the house job?

to add, are specialization and residency usually grouped together? as in, i choose my specific field of study within medicine and work a house job only in that field? will that give me a qualification equivalent to only residency abroad, or also specialization? is there any chance at all that i could get accepted for a specialization somewhere abroad? i doubt it but that’s what everyone’s telling me. would volunteering & extracurriculars & research help me with that by any chance?

i was reluctant to go to pak for mbbs, but my parents insisted i would be able to get a job abroad. i’m going to a private med school i suppose. i know we have to give many tests and licensing exams, i can work with that. i just need an explanation of how pak’s mbbs system works and the steps i would have to take to be accepted abroad. i completed my entire school education abroad in the middle east and i have alevel qualifications if that helps. sorry i know it’s a lot of questions but i really am confused and no one is able to help me. thanks!
