Why Refuse To Look Up Meanings? (RWS Especially.)
I know I've been asking a lot of these kinds of questions lately, but I struggle to understand things sometimes.
Why does there seem to be this strange refusal to look up the actual meanings of the cards, and to go off of "intuition" and "impressions" alone? I get using those things in addition to traditional meanings, but why do people - especially new readers - think looking up these meanings is unhelpful at best, and wrong at worst? Is it due to modern media attitudes towards the cards? Is the Internet to blame? Do we get bad info from others? Or do we all want to be "psychic" in some way, and feel like if we look up meanings, we're admitting we aren't as intuitive as we want to be? Is it an age thing? An ego thing? Or just a bad information thing?

Edit: This post is referring to new readers, not the experienced intuitive reader who has been doing it for decades. If you've developed your intuition well, and that's what works for you, rock on! What I'm referring to here is the plethora of posts where someone gets a new deck, pulls a few cards, doesn't try to interpret with intuition or the traditional meanings, much less with the book that the deck came with. I see it here a lot, or at least a lot recently.
I totally get being new, and wanting help while one gets used to things. Nothing wrong with that! But it's posts I've seen where the person says things like "I'm not a tarot reader. lol What do these cards mean?" that make me nuts.
So, if you're an intuitive reader who's been doing it for years and that's what works, great! And, no offense, but this post isn't about you. I hope this has helps clear a few things up. Thank you for your time. :)
