Day 6,941 of doing my daily flashcards

19 years ago I started using a spaced repetition flash card program called Supermemo to memorize Japanese vocabulary words. I gradually started to use the program to remember lots of other important information, but it was good practice for the rewarding feeling you get when you maintain a habit for a long period of time. I’ve been doing the same with brushing and flossing (Something I had trouble keeping as a habit in the past) as well as completing all of the items on my daily to-do list. These habits have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years, especially in regards to the peace of mind I get knowing that I’m not neglecting something, or letting something fall through the cracks. When I know everything is being taken care of, it’s easier for me to fully engage with whatever I’m doing, whether that is productive work or even playing video games or watching TV. it’s always inspiring when I see the efforts that other people are going through to keep their habits going on this sub. Ah, forgot to mention: something that helps me is the Pomodoro technique but I do 20 mins of concentration and an optional 10 minute break (most of the time I don’t do it, but I have the option). I also write down how many Pomodoros I have done, it’s fun watching the number go up.
