Deathwing Dreadnought, not sure about the weathered look

Not done... and also not sure I like the weathered/grimdark look. The style is cool enough, but I have a hard time believing that super soldiers and their serfs would let armor get this beat up. I would think they would be very well maintained and almost new looking at the start of a battle or conflict... I guess my deathwing can be entrenched or something...

So my question is to those that do stuff like this normally... I'm feeling stuck, so inspiration (different from encouragement, though that is welcomed too) would be nice, and how can I make this look more believable? Also it seems too tan? Yellow? I don't know... I'm Protan colorblind.
