Nobody knew each other

I’m genuinely curious that outside of Randall knowing Maggie, how did no else run into anyone they knew pre apocalypse? Rick was a country sheriff deputy, he was in the news paper for being shot and not one person recognized him. Him and Shane I’m sure arrested dozens of people who had to be in the prison which I don’t understand how Rick didn’t know existed. I wish there were more scenes of either finding people they knew or during the Woodbury war someone speaking up and mentioning they knew eachother.
