VFS is one of the worst monopoly
I am really sick of VFS charging people exorbitant amount of money for just about everything. This monopoly has gone too wild. My wife will get her Canadian citizenship next year so most likely we won't have to deal with them anymore. But still I want to file formal complaints against the company with the different Embassies so that they are either brought to their place or taken out of business all together.
Does anyone else feel that way? And does anyone have any idea on how to proceed that will have some real impact on this terrible monopoly. Or is it no use?
UPDATE: Just a context for anyone who does not know VFS. This is the private company that handles visa services for almost all the countries around the globe. They charge unreasonable service fees as they see fit just because people who need a visa have no other choice (apart from not travelling).
My own experiences from the recent past:
EXPERIENCE 1 - I am in the process of getting a tourist visa for Iceland for my wife. She has an Indian passport and we live near Toronto. I filled in the application on the Denmark website and paid 80 Euro application fee which is all good. Then I went to the VFS website to get the appointment to submit the application. It says their service fee is $39 which is still ok. I get to the page where I had to select the time slot for the appointment, and this is where it showed only a few days availability and that too called PRIMETIME for which they charge $165. Apparently they have no availability so they have opened the appointments before 9 am and afternoon. They don't show any availability whatsoever in the future apart from those 3-4 dates which are next week and priced super high. We had no option but to take it. After that they charge another $57 for courier fees to return the passport back. In total it cost us $261 just to submit the application and 80 Euro is not included in that.
EXPERIENCE 2 - I was submitting the Canadian visitor visa application for my parents who are in India. My parents had to go to the VFS office to provide biometrics. My parents live almost 10 hours away (by car) from the nearest VFS office and they are not young birds anymore. I went to the VFS India website to get the appointment and they don't even give the option to choose the time slot. Rather they send an email and give a date and time of their own choice to be there for the appointment. Furthermore, they don't accept change of appointments. If we cannot make it then we have to wait 5 days after the original appointment to book the next appointment. My parents couldn't make it to the first appointment because it was just 3 days ahead and they had to prepare to travel 10 hours away. I had no idea that we cannot choose a date for the appointment. Next time they were prepared to go to the appointment before we asked for it.
There is absolutely ZERO consideration for their clients. They treat people like crap. Customer service is almost non-existent.
