What if MMA changed the rules so knockouts and submissions only counted for that round?
I was thinking, what if MMA fights worked like a best-of-five system? Instead of a knockout or submission ending the fight, it would just secure that round. To win, a fighter would have to take at least three rounds out of five, no matter how dominant a finish was in a single round.
Would this make fights more strategic and endurance-based? Would it take away the excitement of quick finishes, or would it actually make fights more competitive? I feel like certain fighters, like power punchers, might struggle under this system, while more technical, well-conditioned fighters would thrive.
What do you think? Would this rule change make MMA better or worse?
