Marketing on this one screwed me over.
So I decided to go for the $20 base because I didn’t think anything in the $50 was worth it at the time, but after getting the game, I just noticed that the Tekken bundle was there and never mentioned, the type C and D are locked behind customization (they didn’t mention that clearly in the game marketing I don’t think), and I can’t even upgrade to the $50 pack with a discount, and if I buy everything separately, I don’t get the swimsuits. And if I refund the $20 version, I lose out on the pre order items.
Important: if you’re in the customization, and I think we all are, you have almost no customizable items if you get the base version of the game, you’d have to get the $50 version.
Thanks!
Edit: bought the $50 ON TOP of the $20 one. You can’t even edit the hair on the anniversary outfits. They bumbled the marketing on this one a bit. Just let us know what’s what is all.
Also, If you want the Tekken 7 collab it ain’t in the $50 pack so I’m looking at $70 total here, people.
Well done, SEGA, you got me good with this one :’)
Edit: the game itself is great! Don’t let this post about the disappointing marketing and customization being finicky and locked behind DLC be an excuse to not give this one a go, just know that to get the most of the features it’s not too far away from a full priced fighting game.
Edit2: the preorders are available till Feb 3rd! Here’s what to do if you bought the $20 version and can’t upgrade. Buy the $50 version then refund the $20 version on steam by saying it was bought by accident and ask for the refund while keeping the $50 version, you should keep the full version while getting your discount within 24 hours (I have the refund currently pending in my wallet). Worked for me!
