Lack of genuine character interaction this season?

This is one thing about the season that is just bugging me. There is no emotional interaction between anyone on the show. It's always something the show has struggled with but it's gotten to the point now where just about every dialogue (or monologue) is pure exposition.

In Season 1 there was young William / Dolores, Dolores and her father, Bernard and Theresa, Ford and Bernard, Arnold / Dolores etc, this season there's nothing. Dolores and Caleb I don't think had one actual genuine conversation that wasn't immediately plot-related.

Bernard hurts in particular because Jeffrey Wright is such a great actor but he's literally just been trolling Stubbs or stared at things in a confused fashion.

The show is also just plainly lacking characters. Half of the cast is Dolores and then there's Serac, Maeve, Bernard, and Caleb, there's virtually no minor characters any more who managed to glue the rest of the show together. Sizemore, Hector, Felix, Sylvester, Elsie and so on, they all added some much-needed personality to the show.

Even Dolores herself has mostly lost her character. 'sweet Dolores' and her dad had some amazing scenes in S2 when he was glitching out on the bed, and Wyatt was generally scary. Now the closest description I have for her is 'network TV badass'.

edit: I forgot my boy Lawrence and MiB
