Playing undisputed boxing gave me a whole new appreciation for this series
Started playing with UFC 4 in 2022 and have slowly become jaded and held the opinion that this game could be way better in essentially every way.
While yes, ground work is fucking horrendous, everything about UFC 5’s striking is light years ahead of the current closest thing to a competitor.
The movement, my god the movement. While striking while moving in UFC feels incredibly underpowered when compared to planting your feet, it’s nothing compared the floatey lose footwork in UD boxing.
Button combos for evasion’s and head movements are clunky and unorthodox. It appears it takes 2 buttons being held down as well as moving both sticks to slip while backing up and blocking, leading to either rockem sockem robot matches when you just stand in the middle and duke it out, or both people horrified to throw anything in fear that they’ll get caught with a stray power shot, which brings me to my next point.
Power shots are something I’ve been begging for in UFC games as of late, but seeing it implemented in UD makes me horrified of the thought. There is almost no stamina repercussions to spamming power shots, and body shots aren’t truly impactful enough to combat it. Combined with the lack luster slipping it makes every fight won by whoever spams power hooks/uppercuts over and over.
In short, while EA UFC definitely has issues that need to be addressed, the movement, striking and overall game feel is IMO the best currently on the market. Sorry for the long rant, just glad I didn’t spend $60 on UD
