Can't seem to find a good deal for hotel in Osaka or Kyoto

If you're not hurting for space, most business hotels like Dormy, APA, Sotetsu, etc. are gonna be sufficient. Even during peak times they'll prob run between 85-100 usd per night which isn't bad for your budget. Keep in mind if you base in Osaka that it'll take around 40 mins to travel by train to Kyoto station so factor that into your plans. I'd recommend the Namba area for hotels in Osaka since it's so centrally located and lots of activity even at night. If you want to splurge a bit for Kyoto then I'd recommend Kawaramachi area. Of course this will run you $150+ a night.

Glad I could help. Don't forget to take advantage of the onsens! It felt a bit weird at first but after a long day of walking, a soak in a giant pool of heated water feels heavenly. Dormy is my favorite hotel chain, I always look for one first when booking hotels. The free ice cream and late night ramens are a plus ofc.

Well, you got me at free ice cream, late night ramens, and onsen. I’ve never tried an onsen before, so that should be interesting. I like that I don’t have to go looking for one. I booked 4 different hotels, just to have enough options, and so far, Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae is sounding like the best one.
